Lesson : Romans 13:1-7
Submission to the Authorities
There are three (3) institutions God established namely family, church and the government.
Romans 3:20 - Condemnation
“Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the
law is the knowledge of sin.”
Romans 5:1 - Justification
“Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”
Romans 8:1 - Assurance
“There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
Romans 12:1 - Dedication
“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a
living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.”
The question we have to ask ourselves is this: How can we submit to the authorities?
The answer is found in:
Romans 12:12 which says “Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer.”
I Thessalonians 5:16-18
“Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of
God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”
I John 3:16
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to
lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters.”
